Surf Photography and Prints
Surf Photography is something that Roger Holmes practices when looking for inspiration and very often, will go out with my camera when it’s not really practical to set up an easel and paint. The camera is a useful tool for gathering information for a studio painting, though often, the photo is so beautiful in it’s own right that no further work is necessary.
I particularly like black and white surf photography which strengthen the impact in many situations.
Below are a series of surf photographs that I took during a winter storm at one of many “secret spots” on the North Coast of Cornwall. Everywhere else was blown out or incapable of holding the swell, but this spot was heaving with double overhead waves and a bunch of committed surfers were taking advantage of the conditions.
The surf photographs are available as Giclet open edition prints which I produce myself as I have a Large Format Epson printer that prints up to 4ft wide with pigmented archival inks that will last a lifetime.
